Since Friday, 14 December, Judith Yaah Sunde Achidi and Manzoua Véronique Moampea Mbio entered the annals of history as first women General Managers of Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL), and the Cameroon Petroleum Depot Company (SCDP) respectively. The Presidential Decree appointing them also admitted them into the circle of women General Managers of State Corporations in Cameroon. Mafor Judith Yaah Sunde Achidi, one of the wives of former Prime Minister and CPDM Senator for the North West Region, Simon Achidi Achu, has been described as a square peg in a square hole.
The Economist and telecommunications expert has, in 25 years of service at the Cameroon Telecommunications company, served in various capacities notably Regional Director in the Littoral, South West, North West and Centre Regions; Commercial Director; and Director of Urban Development. At 53, the elite of Donga Mantung Division in the North West Region is a mother of two daughters. Judith Yaah Sunde Achidi is a good golf player, promoter of youth and women empowerment in her native Donga Mantung Division.
Prior to her appointment, Manzoua Véronique was deputy General Manager of the Hydrocarbons Prices Stabilization Fund (CSPH). She is a widow, wife of deceased Edmond Moampea Mbio, who was assistant General Manager of SIC-CACAO and CHOCOCAM, and several times Secretary of State in different Ministries. Edmond Moampea Mbio, native of Boumba and Ngoko Division in the East Region, died at the Yaounde General Hospital on 2 September 2007 after an illness.
