Tongues have not stopped wagging since the celebration, in pomp and pageantry, of the 54th National Youth Day in Zoum Yemvak, near Sangmelima in the South Region. On the invitation of his His Majesty Emile Engamba, administrative, security, religious and traditional authorities joined hundreds of youth at the esplanade of the Zoum Yemvak chiefdom to feast in song, dance, and comedy, among others.
From 1pm to 5pm, twelve singers of different generations and excelling in varying music genres, plus a humourist of repute, put the population in a state of ecstasy. From the passage on stage of afro-pop singers including Aveiro Djess and Nabila to the outing of makossa star Jean Pierre Essome, passing through bikutsi made by Lynda Raymonde, John Duchant, Bimas Bizou and La Tigresse du Sud, spectators sang and danced non-stop to their hit tunes.
The performances of Ottou Marcelin, Kamakai, Christelle Electra, Christofeeling Bush, and Melanie du Sud were graced by cheers and financial donations. Shortly after the passage of the Presidential motorcade en route to Mvomeka’a, Kaiser Show, renowned comic, stole the show. He religiously mimicked President Paul Biya. Kaiser’s “presidential” voice and gestures saw attendees choke with laughter.
